Frenkie de Jong’s transfer to Manchester United is reportedly close, allowing Erik ten Hag to focus on who his next signings will be. According to ESPN, Ten Hag and John Murtough have decided that a versatile forward who can supplement striker Cristiano Ronaldo is who should follow De Jong, as opposed to an out-and-out striker.
The switch of focus comes after Liverpool beat out the Red Devils in the race to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica. RB Leipzig hotshot Christopher Nkunku would fit the bill but may not be attainable until net summer, while Atletico Madrid‘s Joao Felix has been linked. Antony predominantly played on the right for Ten Hag at Ajax, but can also operate in a number of positions across the forward line.
